Harshal Patel featured in two out of the 6 games for the Delhi-based outfit this season, picking up two wickets for 40 runs in the tied game against the Kolkata Knight Riders, in which Delhi Capitals won in the super over and conceded 37 runs for no wickets in the 14-run dramatic loss against the Kings XI Punjab in Mohali.
Meanwhile, there are speculations surrounding Rahul Tewatia’s fitness as well and losing him could be a massive blow for the Delhi Capitals as they spent a whopping sum of 3 crore Rupees on him and he has had two scalps next to his name, in 4 games. Delhi play their next game against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens and it is understood by Mumbai Mirror that they are holding trials to replace Harshal Patel on the same ground.
Delhi has had a mixed campaign so far and they have had their bases covered, only to end up on the losing side 3 times, in 6 games and their inability to finish off games has hurt them big time. Rishabh Pant hasn’t been able to finish off games for his side and it appears as if there is no batting depth in the Delhi based outfit beyond Pant. Shikhar Dhawan hasn’t stepped up till now and his woeful form hasn’t helped the team’s cause either.
Delhi and Kolkata have had contrasting results in their respective last fixtures with Delhi registering a comprehensive 4 wicket-win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy, chasing 150, despite losing a few wickets towards the end. On the other hand, Kolkata had a nightmare of a batting performance against the CSK at the Chepauk Stadium, finishing with 108 in their stipulated quota of 20 overs, only to end up on the losing side, by a massive margin of 7 wickets.
Delhi need to get their team selection right following the injury news and they need to be at their very best to defeat the KKR away from home. DC take on KKR on Friday, 12th of this month.
