The Mumbai Indians franchise is one of the most professional teams in the world of T20 cricket and the three-time IPL champions have a plethora of rules and instructions that every player has to follow and adhere to. The IPL is an extremely serious tournament with eight franchises consisting of world-class players from India and all around the globe participating in two months of intense matches.
The franchise consists of many young players who are yet to realize the seriousness of being professional outside of the cricket field and has come up with an amazing way to keep them in line and that way is to punish the rebelling and misfiring cricketers by making them wear the emoji punishment kit. Players tending to do something to break rules or missing schedules are made to wear ridiculous kits with emojis printed on them and then their images are shared on the social media handles of the Mumbai Indians.
Ishan Kishan becomes the first MI player to wear the emoji kit in two consecutive seasons
This hilarious and amazing way to keep the players in line was devised by the MI management last year and the kit has was embroidered with various emojis from chat apps and overall made the player look amazingly goofy. Ishan Kishan, Anukul Roy, and Rahul Chahar were the first dishonorable wearers of this kit as they had missed sessions with physio and missed gym time.
Ishan missed a gym session, while even a senior player like Suryakumar Yadav had to wear an emoji punishment kit for his folly. In IPL 2019, Barinder Sran became the first player to wear the emoji kit for his misdeeds, however, this time the kit is yellow colored, instead of blue.
But MI wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan has gone one step further and became the first MI player to wear the emoji punishment kit for the second year in a row. The Mumbai Indians shared the image of Ishan Kishan wearing the kit on their Instagram page with the caption, “BREAKING: @ishankishan23 becomes the first player to wear the Emoji kit in two back-to-back editions of the @iplt20”
