Prior to the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Indian team management, including Ravi Shastri, the head coach, sounded concerned about the fitness of the national team’s players, especially the fast bowlers, who are prone to injuries owing to the pressure their bodies go through. Talks about managing their workload also came to the fore, keeping in mind the World Cup.
The mega event is scheduled to start on May 30 in England and Wales and Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, said that it’s up to the players to take care of themselves. In the meantime, Team India went through a mini heart-attack as Jasprit Bumrah injured himself in Mumbai Indians’ (MI) opening match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the renowned Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The incident took place in the last delivery of his spell, which also happened to be the last ball of the innings. He went down on the turf, clutched his shoulder and looked in utter discomfort. The speedster didn’t even come to bat in the second innings as the home team went down by 37 runs. Thereafter, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared an update on the fast bowler.
An official mentioned that the Ahmedabad-born was taken for scans luckily for India, the reports were positive. The right-arm speedster is now up and running and is all set to make a comeback. The Mumbai Indians (MI) are next scheduled to play the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), captained by Kohli himself, on Thursday, March 28 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
As per reports in Cricbuzz, he attended MI’s practice session today in Bangalore. He didn’t bowl but completed his warm-up. Moreover, he also had a chat with the 30-year-old Kohli and Zaheer Khan, who’s the Director of Cricket Operations apart from being a former Indian fast bowler.
