IPL 2019: Kagiso Rabada ruled out of the remainder of the season
He has been called back by CSA for precautionary measures.
The Delhi Capitals (DC) have already qualified for the playoffs in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). For the first time in seven years, they have gone past the league stage and now will be hoping to win their last match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and make it into the top two to have an extra shot at the final. However, they have been jolted with a huge blow as Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the rest of the season.
He has been called back by Cricket South Africa (CSA) for precautionary reasons after he complained of pain in his back and missed the game against the Chennai Super Kings. “It is indeed very hard for me to leave the Delhi Capitals at this stage of the tournament.
“But with the World Cup just a month away, a collective decision has been made for me in this regard. It’s been a tremendous season for me with the Delhi Capitals, both on and off the field, and I truly believe that our team can win the trophy,” Rabada was quoted as saying by Cricket Next.
It’s unfortunate
Kagiso Rabada has been one of the main reasons for the Delhi Capitals to qualify for the playoffs. He scalped 25 wickets in the 12 matches he played and was owning the purple cap for a long time. The DC head coach Ricky Ponting‘s disappointment was evident after the South African was ruled out but he was confident that his team will step up and contribute in Rabada’s absence.
It’s unfortunate that Rabada is having to leave us at this stage of the tournament. But I have full confidence in our team, and I’m sure each and every member of this unit will step up to the occasion,” Ponting said.
