New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson injured himself during the recent Test series against Bangladesh. His sore shoulder led to even the Black Caps not taking a chance and suddenly there were doubts lingering over his Indian Premier League (IPL) participation as well. The skipper of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was set to miss the third and final Test match against the visitors then but there was no clarity if he will play in the T20 league.
However, the franchise itself has revealed a great news for its fans now. Williamson is set to join the team on March 22 only one day ahead of the start of the tournament along with his teammate Martin Guptill. Both of them will take the flight to India after the New Zealand Cricket awards. This must’ve definitely relieved the fans of the SRH and the team as well as Williamson was the highest run-getter last season.
We know you’ve been wondering when Kane Williamson & @Martyguptill will join the #RiserCamp! Well we don't like keeping our #OrangeArmy in the dark. They'll be joining us on the 22nd after the New Zealand Cricket Awards. So sit tight guys! 😎

SRH to play against KKR on Sunday
Meanwhile, the Sunrisers will begin their campaign this season against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on Sunday. They have got a timely massive boost as Kane Williamson will be back at the top of the order for them. Though it remains to be seen if he will straight away play the game after travelling all the way from New Zealand.
He was in the form of his life last year and deservedly won the Orange Cap. But the Kiwi player would be ruing the fact that he wasn’t able to win the tournament as the SRH lost to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final. It will be interesting to see if Williamson will be able to replicate the similar form even this season.
Even Guptill is likely to play a huge role later in the season as the players from most of the countries will be leaving the tournament to join the team camps ahead of the World Cup.
