IPL 2019: KL Rahul sensationally survives MS Dhoni's back hand flip
Rahul was very lucky.
KL Rahul is turning out to be a key player for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the game against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Chasing a total of 161 runs, the visitors lost two wickets in the second over and were pegged back massively. But the duo of Rahul and Sarfaraz Khan has turned it around for their team. The former is finally looking in some fine form. However, the luck is also with him at the Chepauk.
In the 13th over of the innings which Ravindra Jadeja was bowling, Rahul nudged the ball to the off-side and took off for a single. But he hadn’t hit the ball far away as MS Dhoni got to it quickly. The veteran and the CSK skipper threw the ball blindly towards the stumps only for the ball to hit the stumps. Meanwhile, Rahul realised a bit late that he has misjudged the run and by the time he would come back, the ball had hit the stumps.
However, to everyone’s surprise, the bails didn’t come off the groove at all. The stumps lightened but the rule book doesn’t allow it to be given out unless the bails fall by the virtue of which the batsman was extremely lucky to stay out there in the middle.

CSK post 160
Earlier in the day, it was the CSK who posted a total of 160 runs for the loss of three wickets after 20 overs after opting to bat first. Shane Watson got a new opening partner with Faf du Plessis playing his first match of the season. The move worked instantly as the South African skipper slammed a half-century. However, wickets at the wrong time pegged back the home team drastically.
But MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu resurrected briefly and then smacked 44 runs off the last three overs to bring the team back in the contention.
