IPL 2019: Krunal Pandya warns Mayank Agarwal for leaving his crease; goes against Mankading
The incident happened in the 10th over of the second innings.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed a fair share of controversies already this season. It all started with Ravi Ashwin mankading Jos Buttler at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The batsman was out of his crease before the ball was delivered and Ashwin disturbed the stumps at the non-striker’s end. Buttler was given out which sparked off the controversy for the next few days. A similar incident had almost taken place in Mohali on Saturday as Krunal Pandya warned Mayank Agarwal from leaving the crease.
The incident happened against the run of play in the 10th over of the second innings. Mumbai Indians (MI) were in the need of a wicket with Agarwal going bonkers even as Krunal, the left-arm spinner, got into his bowling stride. KL Rahul was also ready to face the ball but Krunal stopped in his run-up and gestured the batsman to stay inside the crease. The bowler was spot on as he had all the right to complain with the batsman taking the advantage.
However, one has to credit Krunal Pandya as well here. He didn’t dismiss Agarwal and instead just warned in the presence of the umpire. Normal sense prevailed in the end as the batsman also realized his mistake and stayed in the crease for the latter part of his innings.

KXIP canter to victory
As far as the match is concerned, the Kings XI made light work of the chase. Going after the 178 runs, they started off well with Chris Gayle taking on the Mumbai Indians’ pace bowlers. But Krunal Pandya bowled well to get things back on track. However, his efforts weren’t enough for the visitors with KL Rahul also finding his groove at the perfect time for his team.
He shepherded the chase brilliantly despite struggling for most parts of the innings. But when the team needed to score him quickly the opening batsman didn’t disappoint. Even Mayank Agarwal had fun during his stay at the crease. Eventually, Rahul and David Miller sealed the chase easily even as Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah tried their best in the last few overs.
