IPL 2019: KSCA, RCB to invite 60 Army officials for every home game
The BCCI had also donated INR 20 crore to the families of the Pulwama martyrs at the start of the IPL.
The outpour of love and respect for the security personnel in the nation has continued in the wake of the Pulwama attack. The ghastly attack that happened last month claimed the lives of 44 CRPF personnel. Since the attack, the Indian cricket fraternity has come forward to take every possible measure in order to show solidarity with the martyrs and their families.
In the latest development, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) along with Royal Challengers Bangalore and Bharathi Cements, have decided to invite 60 jawans of Indian Army for each of the seven IPL games at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The KSCA released a press release to confirm the news. The release also stated that the three involved parties – KSCA, RCB and Bharathi Cements – will sponsor 20 tickets each for the army officials.
“Jawans are the pride of our nation. They are the sentinels of our liberty. The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in collaboration with the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Bharathi Cements have taken the initiative to invite 60 Jawans to witness each of the seven IPL matches being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium from March 28 to May 4,” KSCA stated.
Before this latest gesture, the BCCI had donated a staggering amount of INR 20 crore to the families of the Pulwama martyrs. Indian players had also paid tribute to the soldiers by wearing special military caps during the third ODI against Australia in Ranchi in addition to donating the match-fees. Later, the Chennai Super Kings had donated the ticket proceeds from their first game to the soldiers while Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals had also done their bit.
Royal Challengers seek home comfort
The Royal Challengers team-management, meanwhile, will be aware of the bigger picture when they play their first home game of the season on Thursday. The Virat Kohli-led side will be eyeing its first win of the season when they welcome three-time winners Mumbai Indians who have also started their season with a loss. Royal Challengers were all out for just 70 against Super Kings and had lost their opener by seven wickets.
