The chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav will be one of India’s trump cards in the upcoming ICC World Cup. However, the 24-year-old bowler had his worst time in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019, picking up just four wickets in nine games for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). His form will certainly keep the Indian team management and the fans concerned.
However, Kuldeep recently revealed that one message from MS Dhoni, who will accompany in the WC, helped him boost himself and look forward to the upcoming mega event. The wrist spinner courted controversy recently by reportedly saying that even Dhoni makes mistakes at times while giving inputs to the spinner from behind the wicket.
Later, he clarified saying he had not given any inappropriate statements about anybody and that the false news was being cooked up. He backed himself saying it was just a joke and he could never utter such words seriously against the veteran.
Kuldeep broke down after getting belted by Moeen Ali
Kuldeep Yadav was taken away for as many as 27 runs in one of the matches against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by Moeen Ali. The assault was so severe that Kuldeep had even broken down in the ground. Moreover, the game proved to be the last one for him in the season as he looked down in confidence completely and didn’t play any game after that.
“I wasn’t negative but wasn’t positive either at that time. When I was hit for so many runs in that over I was very disappointed. I knew I could get him (Moeen) out and we had a plan too but I just couldn’t execute it. The game slipped out of our grasp because of that over and that’s why I was very emotional,” Yadav was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times in an exclusive interview.
Kuldeep’s poor form had such a telling effect that he failed to play in all the games for his franchise despite being a premier bowler. He bowled at an average of more than 71 and the fans were apprehensive that it could stop him from fulfilling his potential in the upcoming WC. But then there was Dhoni who passed on a message to Kuldeep to stay confident.
“…Then Mahi bhai (Dhoni) passed on a message that I shouldn’t lose confidence, I need to focus on my game and that really helped me a lot. He has always been a pillar of support ever since I made my debut. People only talk about how he helps us from behind the stumps but it’s actually the work, the advice he gives us in-between or after the matches, that does a world of good,” Kuldeep further added.
