IPL 2019: KXIP’s Hardus Viljoen has an interesting relation to CSK’s Faf du Plessis

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 has been a rollercoaster of a tournament which has seen a team losing all of their matches so far, while some teams are on a roll with consecutive wins raising hopes of a playoff finish. However, the tournament is also very interesting when it comes to the players who play in it.

There have always been players who are related to one another in some form or another. There have been brothers who have played against each other in the Indian Premier League with examples of Irfan and Yusuf Pathan, Brendon and Nathan McCullum, David And Mike Hussey being the prominent ones.

And there have been other relatives of players who have been involved in IPL in some form or another. The best example of this was Janice Kallis, who is the sister of South African legend Jacques Kallis, who is the current coach of Kolkata Knight Riders. Janice was one of the cheerleaders for the Chennai Super Kings team when the IPL was held in South Africa in 2009.

Kings XI Punjab recently invested in a genuine fast bowler from South Africa, who has played one Test for his nation before going the Kolpak road to becoming a T20 freelancer. He made his name in the recent T10 league where he picked up a chart-topping 18 wickets in the T10 league at an impressive economy rate of 7.77.

Viljoen had credited his fiancé Rhemi Rynners, for inspiring him to work hard on his fitness. Interesting to note here is that Viljoen’s fiancé Rynners is closely related to Chennai Super Kings’ opener Faf du Plessis.  As it turns out, Viljoen’s fiancé Rhemi Rynners is the sister of Faf’s du Plessis.

Hardus has picked four wickets for KXIP in IPL 2019, while Faf scored a fifty against KXIP in their recent encounter which CSK won. Unfortunately, Viljoen was not part of KXIP playing XI that played CSK.
