Rajasthan Royals (RR) had a rather ridiculous campaign in this edition’s Indian Premier League (IPL). The team, captained by Ajinkya Rahane, won only one game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Jaipur, but apart from that, it has been lacklustre, to say the least. Yesterday, they got beaten by table-toppers Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by three wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
CSK needed four runs off the last ball and Mitchell Santner deposited Ben Stokes over the long on fence for a massive over-boundary. The Englishman also failed to defend 18 runs in that over. In the early part of the Super Kings’ run-chase, RR picked up four top-order wickets and got the visiting team on the mat. Nevertheless, Kedar Jadhav and the experienced MS Dhoni had pretty other ideas.
Albeit both got out later, that wasn’t a detriment to CSK’s road to victory. The Royals are currently in the seventh position with one win from six matches. Their next match is against the Mumbai Indians (MI) tomorrow at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
In the meantime, despite the losses, the mood in the RR camp is pretty upbeat, which is heartwarming to see. Recently, Ish Sodhi, who’s yet to play in this edition’s IPL, and Stokes were involved in a healthy camaraderie. Sodhi, also a New Zealand leg-spinner, lost a bet to Stokes and had to pay the price.
In a video released by the official Twitter handle of RR, Stokes was seen styling Sodhi. The franchise captioned the video and wrote, “A special haircut courtesy @benstokes38! What do you think did @ish_sodhi do to let Stokesy give him a haircut? #HallaBol,”

Thereafter, Stokes lauded Sodhi for walking the talk. He replied to the tweet and wrote, “A man of his word…lost a bet and took it like a champion @ish_sodhi,”
