IPL 2019: Manzoor Dar goes indoor to get ready for the season

A predominantly middle-order batsman whose burst onto the scene in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2017-18 saw him emerge as a pinch hitter, Manzoor Dar has evolved as a cricketer to be counted as one of the better all-rounders from Jammu and Kashmir. Dar who received his maiden IPL contract in the previous edition, saw it as a major lifeline in his struggles to make both ends meet.

The right-handed batsman who was bought by Kings XI Punjab ahead of IPL 2018 for INR 20 lakhs was roped in for his lower-order flourish in the back end of the innings. However, it was unfortunate that the all-rounder didn’t break into the playing XI in any of the games.

“It is tough when you are with the team and do not get a game, but it was a great learning curve for me as I interacted with big international cricketers and got to learn a lot from them. This year I am hoping everybody gets to see what I am capable of,” the cricketer said to India.com.

Dar goes indoor for practice

It has never been easy for a cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to progress ahead given the hurdles that one needs to cross in terms of preparations for the higher level. Dar was only the second player from J&K after Parvez Rasool to be bought in the IPL auction.

Ahead of the next year’s IPL, the all-rounder is not leaving any stone unturned to prepare in the best possible manner to showcase his talent to the world. Though the places in J&K are covered with snow, this doesn’t stop Dar to go indoor to practice ahead of the next season of the lucrative league.

“The facilities in Kashmir for cricket is not so good and hence one has to go out of their way to practice. I want to remain fit and ready for IPL as the stakes are high. Now, with the place covered in snow it is impossible to have any practice hence I do it indoors,” said big-hitting Dar.
