The Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) are making the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali quite a fortress. Playing in their first home game of the season, they’ve had a great start against the Mumbai Indians. They defeated the visitors by an eight-wicket margin and added two important points to their tally.

The IS Bindra Stadium suits Punjab quite well as they have quite a few spinners in their ranks. With the boundaries quite long, they should enjoy tossing the ball up and inviting the batsmen to take risks. But, they will be up against the Capitals from Delhi in their next game who are coming off a terrific win. This contest between these two teams should be quite an interesting battle.

Here is the Predicted Playing XI for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP):

Openers (KL Rahul (wk), Chris Gayle)

When KL Rahul was batting in the early part of his innings in the last game, he raised many questions. He hardly went after the bowlers and looked to be in complete discomfort. However, he actually wasn’t and proved what a masterful act he is. He knew the ground and the conditions exactly and paced his innings beautifully. The right-hander will have a massive part to play in the next game as well.

Chris Gayle started off the season well. But in the last two games, he hasn’t really got going. With some big strikes, he kept everyone interested. However, he failed to capitalise on the starts. There are no questions about his form though and he can take down any opposition down single-handedly on his day.

Middle Order (Mayank Agarwal, Sarfaraz Khan, David Miller, Mandeep Singh)

In the three games thus far, Mayank Agarwal seemed to be in good nick. He is hitting the ball very sweet and played a match-winning knock in the last game. He will be the most important member in the KXIP middle-order going ahead in the tournament and Mayank will have to bring out consistent performances. After the first game blitz, Sarfaraz Khan’s graph has gone down slightly. He will look to get back to the scoring ways in the next game.

David Miller and Mandeep Singh will follow next in the KXIP batting line-up. Miller has been in good form since the series against Sri Lanka and has already scored a half-century. Along with Mandeep, who seems to be in good form, he will take up the role of the finisher in the side. He will also have to build up an innings if there is a requirement.

Bowlers (Ravichandran Ashwin, Murugan Ashwin, Hardus Viljoen, Mohammed Shami, Andrew Tye)

The Kings XI Punjab feel that the 6-5 combination works better for them and hence aren’t fielding any all-rounders in their eleven. They back their five bowlers to come good and do the job for them. While Murugan Ashwin and Ravichandran Ashwin are the two spinners, Hardus Viljoen, Mohammed Shami and Andrew Tye are the three pacers.

Ravichandran said that Murugan was a forced change in the last game. But with his performance, the leggie has sealed his spot in the eleven at least for now. If KXIP wants to field Varun Chakravarthy in their eleven, they will have to rest one of their pacers which seems quite unlikely.
