Andre Russell once again came to the rescue of the Kolkata Knight Riders to leave the Royal Challengers Bangalore winless even after five matches. Virat Kohli (84) and AB de Villiers (63) scored the fifties and added 108 runs for the 2nd wicket in 9.2 overs to power RCB to 205/3. The Knight Riders were cruising at 92/1 after nine overs but spinners pulled back things for the home team. With 53 runs needed from the last 16 deliveries, Russell smashed seven sixes and a four in the next nine balls he faced as KKR won the game with five wickets and five balls to spare.

206 – The target of 206 is the highest that the Kolkata Knight Riders successfully chased down in the IPL. Their previous highest successful IPL chase was 200 against the Kings XI Punjab in the 2014 Final also in Bangalore.

AB de Villiers had an S/R of 372.72 against the Mumbai Indians during his 11-ball 41 during the 2015 season game also in Bangalore. Had Russell got couple more runs to chase, he could have equalled the record of fastest IPL fifty held by KL Rahul in 14 deliveries.
A record stand between Kohli and De Villiers:
9 – Number of century partnerships between Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the IPL; the joint-most by any pair in the league. Kohli shared nine century partnerships also with Chris Gayle. No other pair has shared more than six century stands between them.
Milestones for Kohli:
2 – Virat Kohli became the 2nd Indian to complete 8000 runs in the Twenty20 format. He reached the milestone when on 17 in this game. Kohli also went past 6000 T20 runs on Indian soil when on 35. He is the 2nd player to aggregate 6000 T20 runs in a single country.
