For a change, the Kolkata Knight Riders didn’t need Andre Russell’s contribution at all in this IPL as they thumped the Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets. Though batting wasn’t easy on the Jaipur pitch, the home team lacked aggression and venom as they managed only 139/3 in the 20 overs. Steve Smith finished on an unbeaten 73 off 59. Chris Lynn (50) and Sunil Narine (45) had their moments of survival but added 91 runs in only 8.3 overs as KKR ended up chasing down the target with 6.1 overs to spare.
All the major stats and numbers recorded during a thumping 8-wicket win for the Knight Riders:

End of Russell’s domination:
1 – Andre Russell didn’t turn out to be Player of the Match for the first time in five Kolkata Knight Riders’ wins in the IPL. Coming into this game, Russell won three such awards this season where the KKR team ended up on the winning side. He was the Player of the Match during the last season’s eliminator also against the Rajasthan Royals.
Lynn @ 1000:

The biggest in nearly two years:
91 – The 91-run opening stand between Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn in this game is the biggest opening stand for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL since the start of 2018. The duo’s 59-run stand against RCB last year in Bangalore was the previous biggest in this period. This 91-run partnership is the biggest for the first wicket for KKR since Narine-Lynn’s 105-run stand in the 2017 season against RCB in Bangalore.
