The change in captain seems to have worked for Rajasthan Royals as Steve Smith led them to their 3rd win of the season in nine games. The Australian was announced to replace Ajinkya Rahane as the RR captain ahead of the game against the Mumbai Indians. Smith led RR from the front with an unbeaten 48-ball 59 during the chase of 162. With this win, RR completed a double over MI as they defeated the 3-time champions at the Wankhede which was played during last Saturday also in a 4 PM game.

The Royal domination over MI:
Rajasthan Royals have defeated the Mumbai Indians in each of their last four meetings in the IPL. Thus, they became only the 2nd team to defeat MI in four consecutive matches in the IPL. The Chennai Super Kings are the other such team as they have beaten MI in four consecutive IPL games between 2014 and 2015.
Smith loves the ‘Indians’:
Steve Smith has as many as five Player of the match awards in the IPL including one in this game. Four out of these five awards have been while playing against the Mumbai Indians. Smith has scored four fifties against MI in the IPL; two more than what he managed against any team. In the Twenty20 format, Smith has 11 such match awards out of which six have been against the MI team. Smith was named as POTM in the CLT20 games for New South Wales and Sydney Sixers respectively in 2011 and 2012.
Captain Smith defeats MI again:
Steve Smith has led Rajasthan Royals and Rising Pune Supergiant on six occasions in the IPL against the Mumbai Indians. His teams ended up on the winning side in five of those six matches. The only loss as captain for Smith against MI came during 2017 IPL final which the RPS losing one-run margin.
Double hat-trick for Turner:
Ashton Turner bagged golden ducks twice in his two appearances in the IPL. He came into the tournament on the back of two ducks; in the last league game of BBL and one in the T20I series against India. He is now only the 11th player and the 2nd Australian to register ducks in four consecutive Twenty20 innings. Dom Michael from Queensland had ducks in all the four Twenty20s he played thus far.
