IPL 2019 – Match 36: Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians – RR Predicted Playing XI
The Royals have something some thinking to do with their batting.
Not just the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) but the Rajasthan Royals (RR) have also placed themselves in a tough spot at the moment. Their playoff hopes are in danger as they’ve won only two out of eight games thus far. Hence, from here on, the side will have to win almost every single game.
They will host the three-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) for the next encounter. Since they are unable to win games, picking the playing XI is an extremely tough task for the Royals. But they are possibly playing their best XI at the moment and need to work around their batting order slightly.
Here is the Predicted Playing XI for the Rajasthan Royals (RR):
Openers (Jos Buttler (wk), Rahul Tripathi)
Jos Buttler seems to be in good form and is hitting the ball well. However, he forms the core of the RR batting. It is important for the English cricketer to take up a role similar to that of KL Rahul. Once he bats 14 or 15 overs in the match, he can surely put his side in a very good position. Thus, rather than going too aggressive in the powerplay, he needs to look to finish things off for his team.
Rahul Tripathi was given the opportunity to open the innings for his side in the last game. He did well with a half-century but took quite some time to get there. He could continue batting at the same position in the upcoming game as well. He should look to score his runs quickly and reduce the pressure off his partner.
Middle Order (Ajinkya Rahane (c), Sanju Samson, Ashton Turner)
Batting at number four isn’t ideal for someone like Ajinkya Rahane. He struggled to hit the big shots in the last encounter. Thus, he should look to promote himself up the order in the next game. He could possibly bat at number three and anchor the innings. Sanju Samson is still a decent option to bat at number four.
He was got all the shots in the book and can get the big hits out straightaway. Ashton Turner, despite the golden duck in his maiden IPL game, is likely to get another chance. He is an absolute game changer and could take up the role of a finisher for his team. RR should look to give him as many games as possible.
All Rounders (Stuart Binny)
With his knock in the last game, Stuart Binny might have sealed his spot in the eleven. He batted in a professional cricket match nearly after six months. However, there was no rustiness whatsoever. He was bitting the ball clean and long. Along with Turner, he could continue to take up the role of a finisher for his team. There isn’t any update about the fitness levels of Ben Stokes as yet.
Bowlers (Shreyas Gopal, Jofra Archer, Jayadev Unadkat, Ish Sodhi, Dhawal Kulkarni)
The Royals’ bowling line-up looks good enough. Shreyas Gopal and Jofra Archer have been doing a splendid job for RR. Both of them control the flow of runs and also pick up some crucial wickets in the match. If needed, they can also bat and score some quick runs.
Jayadev Unadkat and Dhawal Kulkarni will be the two Indian pacers in the side. Dhawal has bowled well in the last two matches while Unadkat is working hard to improve his performances. Ish Sodhi bowled a lot in the practice session and also honed his batting skills. This could be an indication that he might continue in the RR eleven.
