The Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) brought out one of their most clinical performances of IPL 2019 in the game against the Rajasthan Royals. Their bowlers punched above their weights and helped the team register a memorable victory. Skipper Ravichandran Ashwin led the team from the front while all the other players had an equal part to play in the victory.

They will next face the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Feroz Shah Kotla. The last time these two teams met, it was all magical for KXIP. They pulled a win out of nowhere and picked up 7 wickets in the last 17 balls. Moreover, just 8 runs were conceded. Heading into the upcoming encounter, KXIP has got some issues with the form of a few players as well as some injury scares.

Here is the Predicted Playing XI for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP):

Openers (Chris Gayle, KL Rahul)

Chris Gayle has been in great form in the last few games. He’s got a decent break before this encounter and should’ve worked on his niggles. Playing on the surface like the one at Kotla, the management is likely to give him the licence to go after the bowling as soon as he steps on the pitch.

It gets more difficult to bat as the ball gets out and that is when someone like KL Rahul will come into the game. He is expected to bat all the 20 overs and put his side in a good position. If Gayle can get off the blocks quickly, Rahul will have the luxury of taking some time to get his eye in.

Middle Order (Mayank Agarwal, David Miller, Mandeep Singh, Nicholas Pooran (wk))

Mayank Agarwal is one of those players who has highly disappointed thus far in this season. He is in good form and is timing the ball exceptionally well. But his shot selection has been slightly questionable. He’s tried to hit big shots even in situations where there was no real requirement. Agarwal must look to spend maximum time in the middle and take his innings deep.

David Miller got a lucky opportunity in the last game with the injury of Moises Henriques. Like a champion player, he grabbed it with both the hands and will hold onto the spot in the eleven. While Mandeep Singh is sure to continue, Nicholas Pooran is likely to get another chance. There is no update as yet about Sarfaraz Khan and Henriques.

All Rounders (Sam Curran)

It was against this opposition that Sam Curran brought out his finest performance of the IPL so far. He picked up a hat-trick the last time these two teams met and was instrumental in the victory. With Mujeeb Ur Rahman not performing so well, he could be replaced with the English cricketer in the eleven. Curran also adds the depth to the batting.

Bowlers (Ravichandran Ashwin (c), Murugan Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh)

Ravichandran Ashwin made the difference in the last encounter against the Rajasthan Royals. He hit two sixes off the last two balls and also was great with the ball. With the pitch assisting turn, Murugan Ashwin will continue in the eleven.

Ashwin spoke highly of Arshdeep Singh in the last match. On his debut, the youngster brought out a decent performance. Ideally, KXIP management will give him another opportunity to prove his potential. Mohammed Shami will complete this bowling attack and will have to bowl at the death.
