The Sunrisers Hyderabad added to Kolkata Knight Riders’ misery as the team now has suffered five consecutive defeats in this IPL. KKR openers were cruising at 42/0 after 2.3 overs before SRH pacers pulled things back in control. Chris Lynn crawled to a 47-ball 51 while Andre Russell could only make 15 as the visiting team finished with a score of 159/8. The Sunrisers’ opening pair of David Warner (67*) and Jonny Bairstow (80*) put on a 131-run stand to power the team to a 9-wicket win.

A record finish for the SRH:
30 – Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down a target of 160 with 30 balls to spare. This is the first time they have successfully chased down a target of 150+ with three or more overs to spare. Overall, this is the 4th instance when a team successfully scaled 160+ target with five or more overs to spare in the IPL.
The record-breaking pair:
786 – Partnership runs between David Warner and Jonny Bairstow pair in this season are the most for an opening pair in an IPL season. The duo has batted together nine times sharing four century stands and three fifty partnerships.
The record was previously held by the Sunrisers pair of Warner and Shikhar Dhawan during the 2016 season where they added 731 for the first wicket.
Warner gets to 500:
5 – David Warner has scored 500+ runs in all the five IPL seasons he has played since 2015. He is only the 2nd player after Virat Kohli to aggregate 500 and more runs in five different editions of the IPL. Kohli is inching closer to touching 500-run mark for the 6th time.
Four in four for Warner:
4 – David Warner scored a fifty in each of his last four innings in this IPL. He is only the 6th player and the 2nd from Sunrisers Hyderabad to score fifty-plus in four consecutive innings. Kane Williamson also scored four consecutive fifties for SRH in the previous edition.
Lynn’s slowest:
45 – The 45-ball fifty by Chris Lynn in this game is his slowest fifty in the Twenty20 format. His previous slowest T20 fifty came off 42 balls against RCB during the previous IPL season.
Narine’s explosive cameo:
312.5 – Sunil Narine is only the 3rd player to have a strike-rate of 300+ in an IPL inning at the RGIC Stadium in Hyderabad. (Min: 25 runs scored)
Balachandra Akhil in 2008 for RCB scored an unbeaten 7-ball 27 with a S/R of 385.7 1against Deccan Chargers. Chris Gayle hit a 10-ball 35 at a S/R of 350 in the 2015 game against SRH also for RCB.
