The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be high on spirits after the terrific win against the Kolkata Knight Riders. They held onto their nerves in the pressure situations and the way the players celebrated shows how much this win meant to them. But, they will have to remember that they have got a stern challenge ahead.
They will be up against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) next – a team against whom they haven’t done well. Playing at the Chinnaswamy, RCB must be on the top of their game as they will be facing the bruised Lions. A win won’t come easily and the home team will look to strengthen the line-up by making a few changes.
Here is the Predicted Playing XI for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB):
Openers (Parthiv Patel (wk), Virat Kohli)
Parthiv Patel is the best Indian wicket-keeping option available in the RCB squad and thus will continue in the eleven. He has been getting out cheaply in the last few matches and should look to score at least 30 or 40 runs at a quick pace. Since there is a lot of depth in the batting order, he can afford to take a few risks early on in the powerplay.
King Kohli was back at his best in the last game. He has had an on/off season thus far. But the century that he scored at the Eden Gardens should give him a lot of confidence going forward. These runs under his belt will definitely help him do well at the Chinnaswamy against CSK.
Middle Order (AB de Villiers, Akshdeep Nath)
AB de Villiers, who missed out the game against KKR, is expected to be back in the eleven for the upcoming match. This is a really crucial encounter for his team and he’s got to be at his best. The former South African cricketer has been in good form and seems to be a confident man. The opposition doesn’t have the best of bowling line-ups and he should look to exploit the weakness.
Akshdeep Nath hasn’t had much to do in the last few games. In the absence of ABD, he got an opportunity to bat at three in the last match. However, he failed to seize in and got out after scoring 13 runs. Even though RCB has got a few all-round options, they might give the youngster a few more chances.
All Rounders (Moeen Ali, Marcus Stoinis)
Moeen Ali was brilliant in the last game. It was his batting that changed the course of the match. Otherwise, the RCB were looking at a score of around 175 to 180. That over where he hit 27 runs off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav was just spectacular. RCB should trust him more with the ball and must bat him at number four.
Marcus Stoinis could take up the role of a finisher in the side. He has done well whenever he’s had only a few deliveries to face, i.e, towards the end of the innings. Akshdeep can bat up the order if there are overs left in the match. Stoinis has done a brilliant job with the ball as well in the last match where he bowled three dots to Russell in the 19th over.
Bowlers (Pawan Negi, Dale Steyn, Mohammed Siraj, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal)
With not many left-handers in the CSK line-up, Virat could possibly bowl more overs of Pawan Negi in the next game. Even on the tracks where there isn’t a great deal of assistance for the spinners, he has been able to turn the ball quite a long way. He will share the spin bowling duties with Yuzvendra Chahal who also went of quite a few runs in the last game.
Even though he tried his level best, the leg-spinner’s efforts fell short in stopping the onslaught from Dre Russ. With Dale Steyn coming back in, RCB can fancy a few early wickets in the powerplay. However, they can’t trust him too much at the death as Dale offers length to the batsmen even in the last few overs. Navdeep Saini and Mohammed Siraj will be the other pacers in the line-up.
