As the playoffs of this edition’s Indian Premier League (IPL) come closer, the points table is getting too congested, especially in the middle. Yesterday, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) managed to beat the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and kept themselves alive in the league. The team is currently locked on eight points with KKR and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who also won four out of their last five games.

The Royals’ next challenge will be against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The Sunrisers, on the other hand, can’t afford another goof-up after the one against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as it may land them in a rabbit hole as far as qualifying for the next round is concerned. In their last meeting with RR, SRH comfortably got home by five wickets in Hyderabad.

Pitch Report

The pitch has been good for batting and it has mostly favoured the team, batting second. Hence, the toss becomes a crucial aspect of the encounter. Out of the six matches played thus far at the venue in this IPL, five were won by chasing team. Even the first game, won by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), batting first, here went down to the wire.

The temperature will start at 37 degrees Celsius at 8 pm, but will gradually come down to 33 degrees Celsius by the end of the match. The humidity won’t be a reason for concern with the numbers below the 20-per cent mark. There will be a fair amount of cloud cover throughout, but it isn’t expected to convert into a downpour.

The Royals are likely to bring in Ashton Turner in place of Ben Stokes, who has left for England. After getting three ducks on the trot, Turner will be hoping to first open his account and then contribute with a substantial score. Varun Aaron and Oshane Thomas’ inclusions have added fire to the bowling unit. Riyan Parag has been a revelation for RR. Ish Sodhi may come in place of speedster Jofra Archer.

Kane Williamson is likely to feature in this game after he missed the previous match owing to a personal tragedy.

The Mumbaikar had a torrid time in the IPL for the last two seasons as he was straining both from the captaincy and batting point of view. Eventually, it led to the management releasing him from the leadership duties and the same has come as a blessing in disguise for him. Rahane batted freely in the last two games and looked dangerous than ever. In Jaipur, he will be a tough prospect to deal with.

David Warner- Sunrisers Hyderabad

David Warner hasn’t looked like someone, who is making his comeback. He is the current Orange Cap holder with 574 runs to go with seven half-centuries and a century. Despite his superlative efforts, the Sunrisers aren’t in the greatest of positions by any means. It goes without saying that the team will again be looking up to the run-machine for stepping up and delivering in the hour of need.
