IPL 2019: Match 45, RR vs SRH – Rajasthan Royals Player Ratings

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost the toss and were put into bat first on a slow Jaipur surface. To their dismay, the side lost skipper Kane Williamson early for just 13 runs. The Royals, though, had a scratchy start in the field and gifted the visitors some easy runs right at the start. Capitalising on this, David Warner and Manish Pandey stitched together a wonderful 75-run partnership and were running away with all the momentum. However, Warner was dismissed after he got to 37 from 32 balls in a knock that didn’t include a single boundary.

Manish Pandey, though, carried on from where he left off in the last match and scored 61 off 36 balls. But once these two got out, the RR bowlers ran through the inexperienced SRH middle-order. There was yet another collapse as none of the batsmen got to the double figures. Rashid Khan revived the innings by scoring 12 runs off the final three deliveries as the ‘Men in Orange’ got to 160/8 in 20 overs. All the frontline bowlers picked two wickets each for the hosts.

An easy chase for RR as they continue to stay in the race

In the chase, the Rajasthan Royals made the most of the new ball. With the field up, Ajinkya Rahane and Liam Livingstone played the big shots in the powerplay where 60 runs were scored. The England batsman kept attack the bowlers and played some exciting cricket before he was dismissed by Rashid Khan for 44. His partner scored 39 runs before he got out.

However, Sanju Samson stayed in the middle right till the end and did the job for his team. He remained unbeaten on 48 runs and was great behind the stumps as well. The wicket-keeper hit the winning shot for his team as they won the game by 7 wickets. RR continues to be in the race for the playoffs as CSK has qualified after this RR victory.

Ajinkya Rahane – 8/10

Ajinkya Rahane provided the Rajasthan Royals with a steady start in the match. While he tried to hit his shots in the powerplay, the right-hander tried to hold the innings together later on. He scored 39 runs from 34 balls before Shakib Al Hasan dismissed him.

Liam Livingstone – 8.5/10

Liam Livingstone might have got a 9 rating but loses out on some points for his sloppy fielding early on in the match. The English cricketer didn’t let RR miss Jos Buttler as he replicated similar heroics. He provided the team with a lightning start and scored 44 runs from only 26 balls at a strike rate of 169.

Sanju Samson – 9/10

Sanju Samson walked in at number three at the fall of Livingstone’s wicket and there was still a lot of work to be done at the stage. The wicket-keeper batsman did well with the bat and was terrific behind the stumps early on. However, he conceded four byes in the first innings. Though, he made up for it with the bat and remained unbeaten on 48.

Steve Smith – 7.5/10

Steve Smith was spot on with his captaincy and his prediction about the pitch. He analysed the situations really well and was brilliant in the match. Even though he has had troubles with his elbow, he plucked a wonderful catch to dismiss the dangerous David Warner. The skipper scored 22 runs from 16 balls.

Ashton Turner – 3/10

After bagging three ducks, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a sharp inswinger to Ashton Turner as soon as he walked out to bat in his fourth IPL game. But, the Australian did well to get some bat on it and finally got off the mark. The dugout cheered him as soon as he scored his first run. Turner remained unbeaten on 3 from 7 balls.

Riyan Parag – 5/10

Riyan Parag bowled decently in this match. Except for the two boundaries he conceded to Manish Pandey, he held onto his nerve most of the time. The youngster conceded 24 runs in his three overs.

Stuart Binny – 3/10

Stuart Binny was slightly sloppy on the field in this game. He bowled just one over in the game and gave away 10 runs. Thus, he gets three points.

Shreyas Gopal – 8.5/10

Shreyas Gopal conceded 30 runs in his four overs and was more expensive than he usually is. However, he accounted for two massive wickets in the match. The dangerous Manish Pandey and Kane Williamson were dismissed by him. Since he has picked two big scalps, Gopal makes up for the dropped catch in the game.

Jaydev Unadkat – 8.5/10

Jaydev Unadkat looked a completely different bowler in this match. The pitch assisted his style of play and he bowled slow balls most of the times. Unadkat dismissed Deepak Hooda and Shakib Al Hasan. The left-arm pacer also gobbled one catch and was also awarded the Man of the Match for his efforts.

Varun Aaron – 7.5/10

Varun Aaron was not as economical as he was in the last match. But, he had two wickets to his name. He dismissed Vijay Shankar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and conceded 36 runs in his four overs. He loses points for a dropped catch in the match.

Oshane Thomas – 8/10

Oshane Thomas has been a brilliant addition to this RR eleven. He continued his impressive show and accounted for two wickets in the game. Thomas accounted for the wicket of David Warner as well as Wriddhiman Saha to keep things quite during the first innings.
