It’s been hard work for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) swimming against the tide in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). They’ve still got three games left in the tournament and continue to slump at the bottom of the points table. The team cannot put a foot wrong going ahead and they will be facing the Delhi Capitals (DC) next.

Even as they look to keep the winning momentum going forward, RCB has got some issues to be sorted. Two of their important players, Moeen Ali and Dale Steyn, will not be available for the rest of the tournament. Thus, this will force a few changes in the combinations of the team for the upcoming encounter.

Here is the Predicted Playing XI for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB):

Openers (Parthiv Patel (wk), Virat Kohli (c))

Parthiv Patel has done well in the last few matches. He has made his intentions clear and is looking to attack with the field up during the powerplay. The wicket-keeper batsman played a terrific knock in the last match against the Kings XI Punjab. Despite losing his partner early, Patel didn’t alter his style of play and scored a quickfire 24-ball 43.

After the century against KKR, Virat Kohli has had two quiet games. While he got out for 9 against the Chennai Super Kings, he only managed to score 13 runs in the previous encounter. He’ll be playing at his home ground in Delhi on Sunday and will look forward to asserting his dominance over the opposition.

Middle Order (AB de Villiers, Akshdeep Nath, Heinrich Klaasen)

AB de Villiers played a terrific knock in the last game. When things boiled down right till the end, it was the knock from the former South African cricketer which ultimately made the difference. In the last 10 balls that he faced in that game, ABD scored 36 runs which is quite terrific. He was also the ‘Man of the Match’ for his unbeaten 82 from 44 deliveries.

Akshdeep Nath had a chance to do well against KXIP. When he walked in, he had about 11 overs still left in the match. While he should have tried to dig deep and capitalise on the situation, Nath couldn’t decipher a slower ball which ultimately outfoxed him. Now that Moeen Ali has gone back to England, RCB is likely to rope Heinrich Klaasen in. He seems to be the preferred choice and has already played one game this season. However, he didn’t have much to do in that encounter.

All Rounders (Marcus Stoinis, Washington Sundar)

Marcus Stoinis will be playing his penultimate match of this season and is expected to leave after the match against the Rajasthan Royals on the 30th. The Australian assisted AB de Villiers well in the last game and accelerated brilliantly towards the end. He remained unbeaten on 46 and smashed three sixes, two fours in his innings.

RCB will trust Washington Sundar to fill into Moeen’s shoes. Although he isn’t of the same quality as the English cricketer, Sundar is quite talented. In his maiden IPL game this season, the off-spinner conceded 21 runs in the two overs that he bowled. But he is likely to get better as he spends more time in the middle.

Bowlers (Tim Southee, Navdeep Saini, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal)

Since they do not have Dale Steyn, RCB must continue with Tim Southee or bring someone like Mohammed Siraj into the side. The New Zealand cricketer conceded 33 runs in the 3 overs that he bowled in the last game. Umesh Yadav conceded some runs in the first few overs that he bowled but recovered well later in the game. He picked up two wickets in the 20th over and conceded only 9 runs.

The Nagpur pacer is likely to hold on to his place in the eleven. Navdeep Saini has easily been the best fast bowler for RCB this season. He is improving with every single game that he plays and he picked two important wickets in the last match. Saini is hitting great areas while bowling at the death which is great for his team. Yuzvendra Chahal will be the other spinner in the side. He had a rare poor outing against KXIP where he gave away 27 runs in the 2 overs he bowled.
