Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders will lock horns in the big game that concludes the league phase of IPL 2019. The Mumbai franchise has already won confirmed their playoffs berth but a win here will help them to finish in top two and feature in the 1st qualifier. On the other hand, the Knight Riders will be in a do-or-die situation. They need to win the last game to make it to the playoffs.
All the key stats and numbers that matter ahead of the last league game of IPL 2019:
1 – Only once in the history of the IPL Kolkata Knight Riders have defeated Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. KKR played as many as eight matches against MI at this venue and won only in the 2012 season game by 32 runs.
Since then, MI won all the five matches they played at home against KKR. The Knight Riders ended their 8-match losing streak against MI in the IPL on last Sunday.
2 – Hardik Pandya is one of the two Indian players in the history of IPL to score over 300 runs and pick ten and more wickets in the same season. Hardik scored 373 runs and picked up 12 wickets in this edition thus far. His current skipper Rohit Sharma recorded this double in the 2009 IPL while playing for the Deccan Chargers.
10 – Sunil Narine’s ten wickets in the IPL against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede are the joint-most by any player. He shares the top spot in the list with fellow Caribbean all-rounder Dwayne Bravo. Narine’s ten wickets came from six matches at an average of 16.1 with the help of a 4-wicket haul.
24 – The 24 wickets that Piyush Chawla has in the IPL against the Mumbai Indians are the 2nd most by any player against MI. The leg-spinner has claimed 24 wickets across 20 matches and stands behind Dwayne Bravo (28 in 17 matches) in this list.
66.22 – The difference in Hardik Pandya’s batting and bowling averages in the IPL against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Hardik has scored 245 runs across seven innings against KKR at an average of 81.66 and a strike-rate of 202.47 with two fifties. The younger Pandya has picked up nine wickets in nine matches at an average of 15.44 conceding runs at an economy of 6.95.
769 – Rohit Sharma is one of the three players to amass over 700 runs in the IPL against the Knight Riders. He has scored 769 runs against KKR in 24 innings with help of four half-centuries and his only IPL ton at an average of 42.72.
