All the key stats and numbers recorded during the high-scoring affair at the Eden Gardens:
A record total from the home team:
218/4 – KKR’s total of 218/4 is the highest total in the IPL for any team at the Eden Gardens in the IPL. The previous highest IPL total at this venue was 210/6 by the Mumbai Indians during the previous edition against the hosts.
218/4 – The total of 218/4 by the Knight Riders is the lowest in the IPL where no player crossed 70. Robin Uthappa’s 67* was the highest individual score for KKR in this game. They equalled Mumbai Indians’ total of 218/7 in the 2010 season against Delhi Daredevils where the highest individual score was 63.
Russell destroys Shami again:
10 – Andre Russell is only the 3rd player to hit 10 and more sixes in the IPL off a particular bowler. He smashed Mohammed Shami for ten maximums in only 22 deliveries. Kieron Pollard hit 14 sixes off Amit Mishra while Chris Gayle hit 11 maximums in the bowling of Piyush Chawla.
Russell now has 72 runs in the IPL against Shami at a strike-rate of 327.27. The four he hit on the final ball of Shami’s four overs in the game was the first boundary for Russell in the IPL off the pacer but having hit ten sixes.
An expensive start to IPL career:
25 – Runs Varun Chakravarthy conceded in his first over; the most by any player in the first over of his IPL debut. During the TNPL 2018, Varun bowled four overs in all the ten games he played but conceded 25+ runs only once.
A milestone game for Narine:
100 – This game was Sunil Narine’s 100th appearance in the IPL. He is the 38th player to feature in as many as 100 IPL matches and only the 3rd to play 100 matches in the league for the Knight Riders after Gautam Gambhir (108) and Yusuf Pathan (106).
A poor game for Ashwin:
47 – Runs Ravichandran Ashwin conceded from his four overs in this game; the 2nd most he has conceded in an IPL game. Ashwin was taken for 53 runs during the last season’s game in Mohali by the SRH batsmen.
