For Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), their opening match turned out to be a nightmare after being shot down for 70 runs. Their batting looked completely out of place and it crumbled like a house of cards. However, Virat Kohli and Co now return to their home ground- the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore (RCB) where they would be locking horns with Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI).

However, as far as records are concerned, RCB have managed only two wins out of nine games against the Mumbai-franchise at the particular venue. Nevertheless, the home team can cash in on the fact that even Sharma’s team is low in confidence after their defeat against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the renowned Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In their last meeting, RCB beat MI at this venue itself.

Pitch and Conditions

The conditions aren’t expected to be on the daunting side with temperatures hovering around the 30-degree mark and humidity around the 26 percent mark. The pitch in Bangalore recently saw a high-scoring T20I between India and Australia, where bowlers were taken to the cleaners. It won’t be a surprise if another run-fest takes place tomorrow.

Team Combinations

Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Challengers may bring in Tim Southee in place of all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme. The strong-on-paper RCB lineup needs to show its prowess after the dismal show in the last match. The team would be looking up to the likes of Kohli and AB de Villiers to step up. The bowlers did reasonably well against CSK and the onus would be on them to keep the batsmen in check on the probable batting paradise.

Probable XI

Virat Kohli (C), Parthiv Patel (WK), Moeen Ali, AB de Villiers, Shimron Hetmyer, Shivam Dube, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Navdeep Saini

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai are likely to bench Rasikh Salam and bring in Mayank Markande for their first away game. The openers- Rohit and Quinton de Kock- would want a big score under their belt. Yuvraj Singh would be keen to carry on with his good form. The Pandya brothers are also required to deliver the goods. Most importantly, it will be interesting to see how Bumrah plays, especially after the rough day in Mumbai.

Probable XI

Rohit Sharma (C), Quinton de Kock (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Ben Cutting, Mayank Markande, Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah

Probable Top Performers

AB de Villiers– Royal Challengers Bangalore | Rohit Sharma– Mumbai Indians
