Both Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians began the 2019 IPL season with tough losses against CSK and DC respectively. The RCB team will be hoping for a better batting show at the Chinnaswamy after crumbling on a Chepauk turner in the tournament opener. Mumbai lacked stability with both bat and ball in their first game resulting in yet another defeat to start an IPL season.

Here are the key stats and numbers that matter ahead of the crucial game between RCB and MI:

4 – Number of times Krunal Pandya claimed the wicket of AB de Villiers in the IPL; the most he has dismissed any batsman in the league.

Krunal got better of ABD across four matches played in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. De Villiers scored 33 from 32 balls from Krunal in the IPL thus far with three boundaries.


4Yuvraj Singh has been dismissed by Umesh Yadav on four occasions in the IPL; the most times he got out to any bowler in the league. Yuvraj aggregated 54 runs from 36 deliveries off Umesh with four fours and four maximums.


7-2 – Mumbai Indians’ win-loss ratio in the IPL against the RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The seven wins are the most by any team in the IPL against RCB in Bangalore.


9.75 – Mitchell McClenaghan got the wicket of Virat Kohli on four occasions in the IPL. The left-arm pacer conceded only 39 runs in 40 deliveries at an average of 9.75 and S/R of 97.5 with three boundaries.


9 – Number of times Virat Kohli has been dismissed by the spinners in the IPL since 2018; the most dismissals to the spin by any player in this period.

Kohli averages 22.33 against the spinners in this span and has a strike-rate of 113.56. In the same period, Kohli has an average of 116.33 and an S/R of 161.57 against the pace bowlers.


50 – Kieron Pollard’s batting average against RCB in Bangalore. He has scored 200 runs across seven innings in Bangalore against the RCB team with help of two fifties. Overall, the Caribbean has amassed 468 runs in the IPL against RCB at an average of 39.


99 – Virat Kohli has scored 99 runs in the IPL against Jasprit Bumrah; the most by any player in the league. The RCB skipper scored those 99 runs from 66 deliveries with 10 fours and 4 sixes against the pacer. Bumrah’s maiden IPL wicket was Kohli and it was the only time he dismissed his national team captain.


134 – Runs Rohit Sharma aggregated against Umesh Yadav in the IPL; the 2nd most runs scored by any player against Umesh.

The pacer conceded 141 runs in the league to his current IPL team captain Virat Kohli. Umesh has dismissed Rohit on three occasions in the 85 balls he bowled but was hit for 16 fours and six sixes.


500 – Both Virat Kohli (571) and AB de Villiers (511) have scored over 500 runs in the IPL against the Mumbai Indians. Kohli scored three fifties against MI and averages 30.05 while De Villiers scored his best of 133* against them.


613Rohit Sharma is one of the four players with 600+ runs in the IPL against the Royal Challengers. Rohit scored seven IPL fifties against them; the joint-most alongside David Warner (7). However, the MI skipper averages only 29.19 and has bagged golden ducks in previous two appearances in Bangalore against RCB.


3962 – AB de Villiers needs 38 more runs to become the 10th player and the 3rd overseas player to aggregate 4000 runs in the IPL. Among foreigners, only David Warner (4099) and Chris Gayle (4073) have crossed the milestone so far.


4954 – Virat Kohli needs 46 more runs to become the 2nd player after Suresh Raina (5034) to complete 5000 runs in the IPL. Kohli (7911) is also 89 runs away from becoming the 2nd Indian after Raina (8058) to complete 8000 T20 runs.
