IPL 2019: Michael Vaughan predicts the winner of the tournament
The 44-year-old also wished everyone a very good morning.
After 59 gruelling matches in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), it all boils down to that one day when the teams strain every sinew to cross the final hurdle. The Grand Finale of the tournament is scheduled to be played today in Hyderabad between Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), captained by keeper MS Dhoni.
The atmosphere at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is expected to be absolutely electric and it won’t be a surprise if the venue gets jam-packed, though the home team, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won’t be playing. SRH got knocked out after the Eliminator versus the Delhi Capitals (DC) in Visakhapatnam. The Final was previously scheduled to be played at the Chepauk.
However, stand-related issues at the MA Chidambaram Stadium meant that the venue had to be shifted. As far as the upcoming encounter is concerned, both Mumbai and Chennai would be hoping to become the most successful team in the history of the IPL. At this point in time, MI and CSK are levelled on three titles each in the cash-rich and prestigious T20 championship.
A cracking contest in the store in the IPL
Nevertheless, MI has been the dominant team as far as head to head records are concerned. Even in the ongoing extravaganza, Rohit’s men have got the better of MS Dhoni and Co on three instances. After comprehensive victories in the round-robin stage, Mumbai beat the Super Kings by six wickets in the Qualifier 1 at the Chepauk to qualify for the final.
But, bearing in mind CSK’s stupendous records in crunch games ever since the inaugural edition, the Yellow Army can’t be undermined by any means. In the meantime, former England cricketer and current commentator Michael Vaughan reckons that Dhoni’s troops will come out trumps. The 44-year-old also wished everyone a very good morning.
“Rattler time to London … #IPL Final … @ChennaiIPL to win me thinks … Plenty of City Fans at the station looking nervous !!!!!!! Morning all ……..”
