The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 has been hit by injuries ever since the start with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) losing both Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi and Mumbai Indians (MI) losing Adam Milne to injuries. Mumbai actually had been hit twice in this tournament when their replacement for Milne, West Indian Alzarri Joseph was also ruled out.

Joseph had made quite an impression on his IPL debut, as he picked 6/12, the best ever bowling figures of tournament’s history, against Sunrisers Hyderabad, helping MI bowl opposition for 96 runs, while defending 136. The Antiguan bowler then went for 53 runs against the Royals in his three overs. During this match, he hurt his shoulder while trying to stop the ball adding to their woes.

Hendricks played for KXIP before

Now, the Mumbai Indians management has announced the South African Beuran Hendricks as a replacement for the Antiguan quick according to Cricbuzz. The 28-year-old is no stranger to IPL, having played for Kings XI Punjab earlier in the 2014 and 2015 season, picking 9 wickets in 7 matches with the best bowling figures of 3/36.

Hendricks has played 12 international matches for South Africa, having made his debut in 2014 in a T20I against Australia in Durban. He has 16 T20I wickets and 1 ODI wicket to his name and recently played against Pakistan earlier this year.

Furthermore, the left-arm quick has played 64 T20 matches and picked 84 wickets at an economy of 8.31 and the best bowling performance of 6/29. Hendricks has the ability to hit high 140 kmph speeds and get some prodigious swing at that speeds has caught eyes of Cape Cobras and Western Province teams back in the home.

Mumbai Indians are currently placed at no.3 on the IPL 2019 points table with 6 wins in 10 matches and 12 points to their name. Their next match will be against Chennai Super Kings on March 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium at the Chepauk.
