It’s less than a month now for the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to begin and the mercury is already rising. The IPL 2019 is expected to be special for many players as it will be the last major tournament before the World Cup that kicks off in May and they will do their best to catch the attention of the national selectors before they pick the final squad for the mega event.

On Sunday, former IPL champions Mumbai Indians (MI) launched their new jersey for the tournament and the likes of captain Rohit Sharma, ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah and the Pandya brothers – Hardik and Krunal – were spotted in that. The MI have won the tournaments thrice and all the titles came in the odd years of 2013, 2015 and 2017 and their fans could expect the cycle to be rerun in 2019. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings are the only other team to win the title three times.

MI will take on Delhi Capitals in first match on March 24

Rohit’s ‘blue and gold’ side will kick off their campaign this year on Day 2 of the tournament when they take on a revamped Delhi side now named as Delhi Capitals (previously Daredevils) at home. The fixtures of only first 17 matches of the IPL this year have been revealed so far as the BCCI is waiting for the Election Commission to come up with the schedule of the Lok Sabha election also due around the same time.

In the minute-long video of the jersey launch that the Mumbai franchise posted on their social media platform, the four abovementioned players were seen donning the new shiny outfit. All the four will be the side’s trump cards in its hunt for a record fourth title. All three of MI’s titles so far have come under the leadership of Rohit.

In the video, Hardik, who recently had a terrible controversy on TV that saw him serving a temporary suspension, says “Season Naya” while Rohit says “Andaaz Naya”. It’s then when Hardik’s elder brother Krunal steps in to say “Tewar Wahi” before Rohit returns to say “Flavour Naya”. Finally, the four appear appealing to the fans to watch their favourite team in a fresh avatar in the upcoming IPL.
