IPL 2019: One benched player from each team who should get a chance
These players should get an opportunity to showcase their skills.
5. Evin Lewis (MI)
The Mumbai franchise has made an impressive start to their campaign as they have won 3 out of 5 games. Their bowlers have been top notch but their top order has misfired and their middle order has been inconsistent. With Rohit at the top, MI need an explosive partner to accompany him and that’s where the management can utilize the power-packed dynamite, Evin Lewis. The Trinidadian can be the perfect foil for the captain of Mumbai Indians as he is a slow starter in white ball cricket.
Evin Lewis can carve out any bowling attack with his brute power and last year he made 382 runs in 13 innings for the same franchise. With Lewis at the top, Rohit Sharma can play the anchor role for the rest of the tournament.
The southpaw has been in good nick as he amassed 273 runs in 9 matches with a strike-rate of 135 which included a ton against the Khulna Titans in the recently concluded BPL. Along with his power hitting, Evin Lewis is a good fielder which can certainly help the MI team.
