Delhi Daredevils will renew their bid to win their first Indian Premier League (IPL) title next season and they have decided to stick to their core group of youngsters for the fresh attempt. Of the young players that the Daredevils have retained for the 2019 season are Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant. Shaw, who is having a dream run in 2018, did not forget to thank the franchise for keeping faith on him and expressed his gratitude on Twitter.
Shaw is currently in New Zealand where he led India U-19 side to win the World Cup earlier this year. Playing for India ‘A’ against New Zealand ‘A’ in an unofficial Test ahead of the challenging four-Test series in Australia, Shaw slammed a fifty (62 off 88 balls) showing that he is ready for the new challenge. The 18-year-old Mumbai sensation hit a debut ton at home against the Windies last month and is considered the next big thing of Indian cricket.
Shaw made an impressive IPL debut in 2018
Shaw, who also started his career in domestic cricket with a bang just as he did in Tests, made his debut in the IPL in the 2018 season and scored 245 runs in nine matches at an average of 27.22 and a strike rate of 153.12. He hit two half-centuries in the tournament with the highest score of 65. The Daredevils, however, failed to make it to the playoffs, denying the fans to witness more of Shaw’s heroics after the preliminary stage of the tournament. Shaw has promised to the fans that he would be in with more fireworks in the future.
Here is Shaw’s tweet

Shaw’s biggest challenge yet will be in Australia although the Baggy Greens stand a dented lot at the moment. The right-handed batsman got his first India call-up during the Test series in England when he replaced out-of-form Murali Vijay but did not get to play a game. The door was opened for him at home against the Caribbeans and he hit 134 in the debut match in Rajkot and ended up as the Man of the Series in the two-match series which India won 2-0.
