Everyone is sad that Prithvi Shaw missed his century by 1 run and Delhi capitals advisor Sourav Ganguly is no exception as he expressed his disappointment on Shaw missing his ton. Sourav Ganguly feels Prithvi Shaw will score a lot of hundreds in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and for the Indian national side in the future.
Ganguly is very much optimistic and confident about Shaw’s future and believes that the youngster has great potential to unlock in the near future. Prithvi has been called by many as the next Sachin Tendulkar for his Sachin-like style of batting and superb technique and dexterity.
Shaw was in the relentless mood as he spearheaded the side’s run chase with some brilliant batting. Shaw got Delhi to a rollicking start and his grand knock of 99 runs off 55 balls is a testament to his virtuosity with the bat. However, just when everyone expected Shaw to get his maiden hundred, he faltered and fell woefully short of a ton on 99. However, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly says that Prithvi Shaw is a star to watch out for in the future and believes he will get a lot more hundreds in the future.
Ganguly’s words of praise for Shaw
“What Prithvi played tonight speaks volumes of his abilities. It’s important to keep things simple when Prithvi was playing well you don’t need to tell him anything because he struck the ball so well tonight. Just had to tell him that keep going and finish the game off. Good players do it, great players do it – when they get in they finish the game off.
And I think he did that, Unfortunately, he got out on 99 felt sorry for him but I think he will get a lot of hundreds in IPL and all formats of the game for the quality he has,” Ganguly was quoted as saying in India Today.
The result came in favor of Delhi as they finally triumphed over Kolkata in a brilliant super over finish where Kagiso Rabada’s fabulous spell prevented Andre Russell from switching gears as he was cleaned up with a Yorker which Ganguly believes is a strong “ball of the season” contender.
“It is more difficult because I can’t bat and I can’t bowl. But fantastic, that ( Rabada’s yorker ) would probably be the ball of IPL in a month and a half’s time. You know to bowl to (Andre) Russell, who has probably been in the form of his life. It’s unbelievable,” Ganguly added.
