IPL 2019: RCB takes initiative of allowing pets during home matches
"We care about all fans who are associated with the team,"- RCB.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), captained by Virat Kohli, may not have gotten their hands on the coveted Indian Premier League (IPL) title, but their fandom hasn’t taken a dip by any stretch of the imagination. In the meantime, the franchise has taken a rather unique step for the upcoming edition of the T20 tournament. The same is in order to attract more supporters.
The Challengers have decided to make their home encounters pet-friendly. The franchise has come up with an exclusive pet lounge called ‘DogOut’ and the seatings will be designed for canines and humans. An RCB official mentioned that there would be no tickets on sale for the exclusive lounge. The entry for the Stand will be Gate 21, which is not open to the general spectators.
Pet are extension of their families
The initiative is called RCB loves Furry and 30 pet owners would be picked from a ‘selfie with your pet’ contest on the official team application. They will be invited for the game with their pet. Only dogs and cats would be allowed in this particular season of the T20 tournament.
“We’ve created a zone exclusive for pet-parents to experience matches with their pets. TREATS for pets will be available in this space. We’ll also have well-trained people to care for them,” an RCB official was quoted saying to The Times of India (TOI).
“We care about all fans who are associated with the team. One such group of fans is pet parents and (pet) lovers. Pet are extension of their families and we are RCB would like to make them very much a part of the RCB family. …” an RCB statement mentioned.
As far as the event is concerned, RCB is set to lock horns with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the opening match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, March 23. Their first home game is against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Thursday, March 28.
