IPL 2019: Rishabh Pant gets help from former India keeper Kiran More ahead of Mumbai Indians’ tie
Pant was seen talking to MI’s wicketkeeping consultant and former India stumper Kiran More.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) will go underway from March 23 and will see the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the defending champions take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the tournament opener at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
On Sunday, March 24, there will be two matches played with Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad in Kolkata in a day match and Mumbai Indians taking on Delhi Capitals in the evening at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Both the matches have the potential to be explosive and are packed with superstars waiting to entertain the IPL fans.
Rishabh Pant and his World Cup chances
The Delhi Capitals’ wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been the talking point for the past few months, given that he is touted to take over from MS Dhoni once the great one calls it time on his career. Pant has already impressed everyone with his batting in Test cricket with centuries against England and Australia.
However, his form with the bat and gloves behind the stumps has been disappointing, to say the least, whenever he has been given chances in ODI matches for India. This is a serious concern if one remembers that Pant is in contention for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. Pant is vying for a spot in the Indian ODI squad as a backup keeper along with Dinesh Karthik and his performance in the IPL 2019 will decide his fate.
Kiran More helps out Rishabh Pant
As Delhi Capitals prepare for their match against Mumbai Indians, Rishabh Pant was seen talking to MI’s wicketkeeping consultant and former India stumper Kiran More. More has been credited with working with many wicketkeepers in the country and Pant was also seen taking tips from one of the best keepers India has produced.
“Rishabh had a more sideways movement and I suggested a bit more open-chested stance. It helps in balance and keeping a still head, something that is key to Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s success,” More was quoted saying by India Today.
“I advised a very minor change like pointing the finger towards ground rather than the bowler. It helps one avoid injuries and success in taking catches goes up,” More further said.
Mumbai Indians shared a video on their social media handles, where Pant can be seen taking with More and going over a few details of the wicket-keeping.
