IPL 2019: Scott Kuggeleijn arrives in India to join the CSK camp
He will most probably be available for CSK's next home game.
The defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) roped in the New Zealand pacer Scott Kuggeleijn as a replacement for the injured Lungi Ngidi a few days ago. The fast bowler arrived in India earlier on Wednesday and is expected to join the squad very soon. The CSK team is currently in Mumbai and he might be available for their next home game on Saturday against the Kings XI Punjab.
Kuggeleijn, who made his T20I debut in January this year against Sri Lanka, and was also a part of the three-match T20I series against India at home, has played four T20Is and two ODIs to date. In his brief time at the highest level, Kuggeleijn has proven himself as a big hitter of the ball and has bowled at an impressive pace.
“For Lungi, we’ve been a bit more selective. It’s obviously a different level of replacement player based on price, and we’ve gone with Scott Kuggeleijn, who’s a New Zealand international who bowls quick and bats well,” Stephen Fleming had earlier explained. “So we’ve looked for an allrounder, who has good pace and good variations. He’ll be joining us next week.”
Another player CSK will be missing out on is David Willey, who has pulled out of the tournament due to family reasons. The English allrounder wants to be with his wife for the birth of his second child and the fact that he is not playing due to personal reasons, there will be no replacement for Willey.
Unbeatable CSK
The CSK have won all their games of the season so far and will be locking horns with arch-rivals Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday. The MS Dhoni-led team yet again looks the most powerful team in the tournament, and they will be eager to lift their fourth trophy this year.
