IPL 2019: Shane Watson engages in a banter with Ishant Sharma and Kagiso Rabada
It was the Delhi coach Ponting who helped peace prevail between the two fiery characters.
The 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is in full flow as each team has now played at least one game each. Barring the first game, all the others have been pretty exciting ones. Teams have competed hard and there were a lot of key moments from all the games. Banter has always been a part and parcel of cricket. Rishabh Pant and Tim Paine were involved in a humorous banter in the Test series when India toured Australia a few months back.
The IPL has seen quite a bit of it as well in the previous years. This year, there was nothing short of drama in the fifth game of the season. When Chennai Super Kings (CSK) took on Delhi Capitals (DC), the latter managed to score just 147. Shane Watson opened the batting for CSK and was involved in banter with two of Delhi’s premier bowlers, Ishant Sharma and Kagiso Rabada.
Watson riles up Ishant, Rabada
The 37-year-old all-rounder riled up both Ishant and Rabada. It all started when Ishant got the early breakthrough of Ambati Rayudu before breaking into a wild celebration. Watson had a laugh about Ishant’s animated celebration. However, it didn’t go down well with the tall Delhi pacer who had a go at Watson for the same. Towards the end of the same over when the lanky speedster dismissed Rayudu, Ishant had a war of words with Watson which ended up with the latter bursting into a laugh.
A few overs later, it was the turn of Kagiso Rabada to get involved in an animated conversation with Watson. The South African pacer seemed to have given some bit of unnecessary advice to Watson while the former Aussie all-rounder was completing a run. It led to having a war of words once again with Shreyas Iyer intervening and separating the two. Rabada was seen smiling at the end of the conversation.

All’s well that ends well
However, everything ended well. Watson, Rabada and Ricky Ponting were seen having a chat when the game was over. It was the Delhi coach Ponting who helped peace prevail between the two fiery characters.
