The 15th match of this season’s Indian Premier League (IPL) will see the struggling Mumbai Indians (MI) welcoming high-flying Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday. The mouth-watering clash between the two of the most successful teams in the history of the league will be a star-studded affair. Big names from India and overseas will be in action as both the teams will be desperate to win this marquee clash.
The backroom staff of the two teams are also full of stars. While the CSK have the likes of Stephen Fleming and Lakshmipathy Balaji, the MI is boasted of Mahela Jayawardene, Shane Bond, Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan. With so many big names on the show during this clash, the youngsters get a chance to pick up the brains of the legendary names. Well, Shardul Thakur, the CSK pacer, was seen doing something similar on the eve of the match.
The India pacer was seen interacting with Mumbai Indians’ Director of Cricket Operations and legendary pacer Zaheer Khan. Shardul, who plies his trade for Mumbai in the domestic circuit, could be seen listening to Zaheer’s words like a keen student. Shardul himself took to Instagram to post a picture of that meeting as his status while writing, “Discussing pace.”
Shardul hoping for a better show
Shardul Thakur, meanwhile, is yet to make a big mark in the tournament so far. After not getting to bowl in the season opener, he showed his skills against the Delhi Capitals but could bowl only two overs while giving away 19 runs. In the following game against Rajasthan Royals, he managed to pick up two wickets but still ended up conceding 42 runs. He will be hoping that Zaheer Khan’s tips help him turn things around at the Wankhede.
The defending champions, meanwhile, will be looking to continue their winning run against the struggling hosts. While Super Kings have won all of their opening three games so far, Mumbai Indians have managed just one win from the same number of outings.
