The Sunrisers Hyderabad were one of the most underrated sides in the Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier this year. They were jolted with David Warner being ruled out of the tournament and had to appoint Kane Williamson the skipper at the eleventh hour. But contrary to everyone’s expectations, they stormed into the final of the tournament and unfortunately ended up as the runners-up. But their coach Tom Moody was immensely impressed with the team’s show as they’ve also started preparations for the upcoming season.
In the biggest trade of this year, the SRH franchise has parted ways with Shikhar Dhawan as the flamboyant left-hander will now feature for the Delhi Daredevils. In return, they exchanged three players from Delhi which is being termed as a smart move. Abhishek Sharma, Shahbaz Nadeem and Vijay Shankar were traded by DD to bag Dhawan’s services.
Moody’s special tweet for Abhishek
Abhishek Sharma hogged the limelight during the U19 World Cup earlier this year after which the Delhi franchise had snaffled him for Rs 55 Lakhs. The youngster lived up to the expectations in the limited opportunities he recieved during the season. In three matches Abhishek played, he went on to score runs at the strike-rate of 190.90 which highlights that the 18-year-old has the potential of becoming a star cricketer in the near future.
He can also play the role of the finisher in the line-up which the Sunrisers lacked in the last season with only Yusuf Pathan at the helm. His inclusion will be surely a tactical move from the franchise and definitely, the coach Tom Moody might have played his role in the talent scouting.
Moody was delighted to have Abhishek in the team and welcomed him to the Orange Army for the upcoming season. “Welcome Abhishek looking forward to working with in 2019 and beyond! #SRH #OrangeArmy,” the former Australian cricketer wrote in his tweet.
