IPL 2019: Twitter backs upcoming all-rounder Shivam Dubey to be picked in the auction

The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction has more often come up with surprises as the franchises go haywire behind one player to make him the million-dollar baby. With the event set to take place in Jaipur on December 18 ahead of the next season, several names are doing the rounds already who could set the stage on fire. One of those is Shivam Dubey, who is playing for Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.
The 25-year-old has so far amassed 364 runs in five outings with two centuries in the competition and has also picked 12 wickets to bring his all-round game to the fore. Though one would argue that the first-class statistics are not the perfect testament to getting picked in the cash-rich league as it requires a hitting prowess, Dubey is also known for his exploits in the shortest format.
Dubey has smashed 30 runs in a single over
Shivam Dubey hogged the limelight during the Mumbai T20 League earlier this year when he smashed 32 runs in a single over off Pravin Tambe. The strongly built cricketer looks calm during his stay at the crease and has already bailed Mumbai out of trouble numerous time in his short career. His strike-rate of 147.62 in the 13 T20s so far makes him look a much better player in the shortest format as well.
The next season seems to be the best chance for Dubey to make his debut in the cash-rich league. It goes without saying that he will be under the radar for many franchises and has the ability to become the most expensive uncapped player in the event.
Moreover, India are currently struggling with the lack of pace-bowling all-rounders in their ranks. With Hardik Pandya injured, the chief selector MSK Prasad clearly mentioned that there is no one who can replace him. But Dubey could be the solution for their problems. Having said that, the cricketer will need to perform consistently in the domestic circuit to stay under the watchful eyes of the selectors.
