IPL 2019: Virat Kohli allegedly gives Andre Russell an abusive sendoff

Virat Kohli, on Friday, starred with the bat, scoring a stunning century to guide Royal Challengers Bangalore to a much-needed win over Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. Kohli scored his fifth IPL century to power the Royal Challengers to a thrilling ten-run win over the Knight Riders. It was yet another batting masterclass from Kohli as he showed just how one can pace an innings to perfection even in T20s.

Kohli looked scratchy at the start and survived a big lbw shout against Sunil Narine while his first two boundaries came thanks to a misfield and a thick leading edge. However, the Royal Challengers skipper survived that phase and began to find his timing in the middle overs. And towards the end of the innings, he hit the top gear to blow away the Knight Riders. The right-handed batsman scored his 50 from 40 deliveries but scored the next 50 runs in just 17 balls. His stunning knock helped the Royal Challengers post a massive total of 213 for 4.

In reply, the Knight Riders put up a brave fight thanks to Nitish Rana and Andre Russell. The hosts started poorly but Rana and Russell nearly took them over the line. The two displayed exhilarating power-hitting but Royal Challengers managed to eke out a 10-run win. Rana smashed 85 not out while Russell hammered 66 from 25 deliveries.

“Felt really good after what happened last year. Was important to have a win under our belt. There’s no point in panicking in these types of situations, you got to leave it to the bowlers to decide what they want to do,” Kohli said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

But despite his match-winning century, Virat Kohli faced the heat on social media after yet another wild sendoff on the field. The star batsman allegedly used cuss words when he ran out Russell in the very final over of the innings and the fans were quick to notice it.
