With every passing game this season, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) season is falling apart. The perennial underachievers in the league have lost all of their five games so far and stand agonisingly close to missing out on a playoff berth once again. Things have just not fallen into place for a side which has failed to live up to the expectations more often than not. The start of the tournament was a forgettable one for them as they were bowled out for just 70 against reigning IPL champions Chennai Super Kings.
Since then things have only gone downhill. The bowlers, batsmen and the fielders are just not coming up with a collective effort and as a result, the team is now languishing at the bottom of the points table without a single win in five games. In their last outing, the Royal Challengers suffered a demoralising win against Kolkata Knight Riders. When the Royal Challengers finished their batting, it looked like they were at most 20 overs away from their first win this season.
The fifties from Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers had powered the team to a massive 205 but the bowlers failed to defend the total. In fact, Knight Riders chased down the total with balls remaining thanks to Andre Russell’s unbelievable knock of 48. The Royal Challengers are now in desperate need of some wins to bring their season on track.
But despite the poor result on the field so far, it seems like the spirit in the camp is high. Their skipper Virat Kohli was on Sunday spotted hanging out with his wife Anushka Sharma and teammate AB de Villiers in Bengaluru with the South African cricketer’s wife and kids also joining them. Kohli was seen playing with De Villiers’ kids as the two families enjoyed some time together before Sunday’s clash against Delhi Capitals.
No harsh decision
Following the loss against the Knight Riders, Virat Kohli had slammed his bowlers but had said that the team would not take any tough call against the players. He also said that the team would give the players the space to bounce back. Staying true to his words, the skipper went with the same side in the game against the DC on Sunday but unfortunately, they are on the verge of losing yet another game.
