More than the loss, Jasprit Bumrah’s injury was more worrisome for Mumbai Indians and their fans after the team’s opening game against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The pace bowler was grimacing in pain after he fell while fielding off his own bowling. It seemed to be a shoulder injury and the way he walked off, the hearts of the Indian fans stopped for a while.

It was also reported later that Bumrah was fine but he didn’t come out to bat. Mumbai Indians team management was assessing his injury. With the World Cup set to follow soon after the IPL, every player who is certain to be part of that squad has to be managed properly. Also, Bumrah’s injury feared the worst for many.

However, there is good news for all the fans. According to the sources close to the developments, Jasprit Bumrah was fit again by the time the team reached the hotel. He is most likely to play the next game for MI as well which is against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Team India physio contacts MI physio Nitin Patel

“He is fit and it was just a case of shoulder spasm, nothing serious at all. He is an integral part of both Team India and Mumbai Indians and with the World Cup round the corner, the management felt it was best to keep him away from the batting crease on Sunday,” the sources were quoted as saying by India Today.

Moreover, Team India’s physio Patrick Farhart contacted MI physio Nitin Patel on Monday morning to know the status of Bumrah’s fitness. Even the skipper Virat Kohli and the team management was worried about the pace bowler.

“Everyone was concerned and Patrick spoke to Nitin on Monday morning to gauge the situation and the future course of action as Bumrah is an integral part of the Indian team going into the World Cup in May. But, there is nothing to worry and he is likely to take the field in the next game,” the source further added.
