The Mumbai Indians (MI) are eagerly waiting for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 to start given that they have won their three IPL titles in odd-numbered years- 2013, 2015 and 2017. The Mumbai based franchise will start their campaign on March 24 against the Delhi Capitals, previously Daredevils, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Mumbai Indians have gone in with some experience in their bowling department this season and have brought back Lasith Malinga in as a player after he spent IPL 2018 as a bowling mentor. His work with the Mumbai bowlers was impressive as Jasprit Bumrah has now become one of the best exponents of yorkers in cricket today.
Jasprit Bumrah was found out by MI talent scouts in IPL 2013, where he played just two games. However, since then Bumrah has been one of the best bowlers in the IPL, and his success and ability to bowl at high speeds and execute yorkers, led him to be drafted into the Indian team in 2016 and since then, he has become a regular in the team in all the three formats.
Bumrah is a world-class bowler
Mumbai Indians’ director of operations and former player Zaheer Khan has been vocal about Jasprit Bumrah even when the youngster just started out for India. Bumrah has 63 wickets in 61 matches for Mumbai Indians and has played a key role in their victories in IPL in 2015 and 2017.
For India, Bumrah has been amazing with 49 wickets in 10 Tests, 85 wickets in 49 ODI matches and 51 wickets in 42 T20I matches. He amazed everyone with his ability to adapt to conditions quickly and this led to his success in Tests in South Africa, Australia, and England since his debut in 2018.
Bumrah is the no.1 ranked ODI bowler in ICC rankings and is considered to be one of the players to look out for in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019, to be played in England and Wales. Zaheer Khan recently praised the Gujarat-born bowler and said, “Bumrah is a world-class bowler. He’s an asset to have” on the Twitter page of Mumbai Indians.
