The Chennai Super Kings skipper Ravindra Jadeja roared back to the wickets column in style as he accounted for the hard-hitting Glenn Maxwell during the IPL 2022 encounter against the southern rivals Royal Challengers Bangalore at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on April 12.
While Jadeja did apply brakes on RCB’s acceleration during their mammoth run chase to a certain extent, it is his unique celebrations that stood out the most after having dismissed his Australian counterpart for the seventh time in T20 cricket. His teammate Dwayne Bravo had come out with a new celebration during the curtain-raiser against KKR, but the southpaw has come up with one of his own.
Ravindra Jadeja ecstatic after dismissing Glenn Maxwell
Ravindra Jadeja introduced himself into the attack immediately after the powerplay defending 217 runs. While Maxwell did welcome the bowler by hitting him past the covers for four, it was Jadeja who had the last laugh. On the penultimate delivery of the final over, the left-arm spinner bowled an arm ball around off as the middle-order batter attempted to play a pull shot on the back foot. Nonetheless, he missed it completely as the ball went on to hit the top of off stump.
A delighted Ravindra Jadeja first put his left index finger up to celebrate before pointing towards his left in what is supposedly a gunshot celebration.

Coming back to the contest, the Chennai Super Kings who were struggling to find their rhythm in the first 10 overs accelerated in the next 10 especially in the death overs courtesy of all-rounder Shivam Dube’s brilliance. He was involved in a 165-run stand for the third wicket along with veteran batter Robin Uthappa. Dube scored 95 runs from 46 deliveries at an outstanding strike rate of 206.5, Uthappa also went on to play a stellar knock of 88 off just 50 balls that propelled the title-holders to 216/4 from their 20 overs.
