IPL 2020: 3 Mistakes committed by the losing side in CSK vs RCB
CSK continue to commit same mistakes and that cost them the game against RCB
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced their fifth defeat in seven games and their dismal run continued. The three-time champions locked horns with Virat Kohli’s RCB and lost the game by 37 runs. They started with a perfect note and kept a check on RCB’s run-rate while taking three wickets early on, but Kohli played a scintillating knock and took RCB to a decent total of 169 with 66 runs coming from the last 4 overs.
However, CSK didn’t start well with the bat and their plan to score big in the end failed badly as they kept on losing wickets in the second half of their innings. As they have just won two games till now, their chances to make it to the playoffs are under severe threat. However, to qualify for the next round, the first thing they need to do is stop repeating the mistakes they have been making since the first game.
Here are the three mistakes committed by CSK in Match 25, CSK vs RCB:-
1. Leaked too many runs at the death
CSK’s bowling unit started quite well and the RCB were struggling to score runs in the beginning. They were scoring at almost six runs per over and wickets were also falling. However, Virat Kohli stayed there and exploited the average fielding and dismal death bowling from CSK. The yellow army leaked 66 runs the last four overs and if the target would have been less than 150, things could have turned out differently.
2. Defensive approach from the top order
CSK’s top order is their greatest strength in the batting department. However, they came up with a defensive approach to put on a partnership which failed badly. Washington Sundar dismissed both the openers in the powerplay and with the required run-rate piling on, CSK lost their way in this important chase yet again.
3. Lack of intent from the entire team
CSK have been one of the strongest teams in IPL history. They have made it to the finals for a record 8 times and won 3 out of them as well. However, they are looking quite different in this season and the intent is somewhere missing. They are lacking that magical captaincy from MS Dhoni, those game-changing moments in the end and that dominant performance. The first thing CSK need to change is the intent on the field and the same was evident in CSK vs RCB clash as well.
