Mitchell McClenaghan
When we think of the Kiwi fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan, we always connect him to the Mumbai Indians as he has been a stalwart for them in the past five seasons. He always has been the go-to bowler for his captain Rohit Sharma whether it is in the powerplays or in the death overs.
McClenaghan has been so consistent for his IPL franchise over the years that he has one of the best wickets-to-match ratio in the history of the tournament. He has taken 71 wickets in just 56 matches in which he has represented the Indian financial capital. But after the arrival of Australian left-arm pacer Jason Behrendorff, he was left out of the side for most of the tournament last year. The Kiwi pacer featured in just 5 matches in the 2019 edition and took only 3 wickets.
In the recently closed trading window, Mumbai Indians bought the ODI world number one bowler and McClenaghan’s countryman Trent Boult as a replacement for injured Behrendorff. As Boult is a like to like replacement for the injured Benrendorff, the chances of McClenaghan finding a place in the playing eleven are looking bleaker than ever.
