Prashant, who was a part of the victorious Indian Under-19 team during the 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was unfortunate not to have got an IPL contract early in his career.
The 27-year-old was bought by the Royals at his base price of INR 20 lakhs ahead of 2018 IPL. Unfortunately, he got to play just one game in each of the 2018 and 2019 editions of IPL.
The Himachal Pradesh opener who has got a good domestic record has been in a fine form with the bat in the past two Indian domestic seasons amassing ton of runs across formats.
With 1152 T20 runs that include eight half-centuries, the Solan-born player deserves more opportunity at the top-of-the-order at Rajasthan Royals to prove himself at the world stage. Let us hope he gets more chances to open the innings for Steve Smith’s side in IPL 2020.
