Shimron Hetmyer is another West Indian whose ball-striking potency is well accomplished. Hetmyer’s skills were on full display in the ODI series against India last year where his knocks of 106 and 94 demolished the Indian bowling. In fact, he batted with a strike rate in excess of 130 throughout the series. With no surprises, he was offered a big fat contract of 4.2 crores by RCB.

However, the left-hander couldn’t live up to the price tag in the IPL- he scored 90 runs in 5 innings at 123. He hasn’t been able to set his T20 international career on fire yet-17 matches, 159 runs with a strike rate of 110. Hetmyer has been a major let down for the West Indies since the World Cup and is been accused of throwing away his wicket by playing a rash shot.

With a packed top order and inconsistency in the team selection, Hetmyer’s potential remained underused at RCB. Nonetheless, the 22-year-old is a proven commodity in world cricket; and it would be a huge shocker if no team bids for the youngster. The likes of Chris Gayle and KL Rahul have already haunted RCB after they were discharged; Shimron Hetmyer could be another name in that list.
