The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has produced some spine tingling action. The league stage has come to a close, and the four teams that have qualified for the playoffs and will be vying for the title are Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Sun Risers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Chennai Super Kings failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time ever.

They failed to step up in this edition, and ageing players in their squad is definitely a matter of concern for the MS Dhoni-led side going into the next edition. There were players who set the stage on fire with some riveting performances.

Chris Gayle proved that age is just a number for him, Rahul Tewatia announced to the world that he is a talent to watch out for, Jofra Archer’s searing pace unsettled batsmen, and Varun Chakravarthy even earned a national call up due to his ravishing performance with the ball this season. But then, there were a few players whose performances were below par, and they failed to get going.

In this article, let us look at five players who flopped in the tournament this year:

5. Kedar Jadhav (CSK)

The 13th edition of the IPL has been a forgettable tournament for Kedar Jadhav. The diminutive batsman was a huge disappointment for Chennai this season, and aggregated just 62 runs in the 5 innings that he played. The CSK batsman could not even cross the 30-run mark in any of the innings that he played this year, and put up a shoddy performance for the ‘Men in Yellow’.

Jadhav averaged an underwhelming 20.67 and his strike rate too, was abysmally low at 93.94. He scratched around in all the opportunities he got, and received flak for his inability to up the ante.

After such a poor performance with the willow this season, it remains to be seen whether CSK will stick with him in the next edition.
